We would like to extend a big thank you to dancers Tamara Bouman and Roxie Syron who have joined the ensemble for recent performances of Horizon!

You may have seen them onstage in the final performances at the Sydney Opera House and they will join us again for our Canberra season.

TAMARA BOUMAN 

Tamara is a Birrpai contemporary dance artist and performer, currently based between Naarm/Melbourne, and Eora/Sydney.

From the age of three, Tamara trained at both classical ballet and commercial dance schools around Sydney. In 2019, she graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance). She is keenly interested in cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural collaboration and using dance to deepen her connection to her culture, land, herself, her collaborators and her audience.  

Tamara has worked with a range of artists and companies including Stephanie Lake, Alisdair MacIndoe, Ngioka Bunda-Heath, Vicki Van Hout and Legs on The Wall, and Na Djinang Circus. In 2022 she was a company member at Sydney Dance Company, and since has worked on various independent projects with Moorambilla Voices, Ginevra Cicatello, Dance North, Opera Australia, Karul Projects and Joel Bray.

ROXIE SYRON 

Roxie is a proud descendant of the Biripi and Worimi clans of the Mid North Coast in NSW and grew up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. 

Roxie began dancing at age five and later participated in a year of full time classical and contemporary training with Tanya Pearson Academy before training full time with Brent Street in all commercial styles. She is currently completing her second pre-professional year with Sydney Dance Company. Career highlights include secondment with Bangarra, being a Nederlands Dans Theater invitee, The Nutcracker with Sydney City Youth Ballet, choreographic works with Lucas Jervis and the Locreado Contemporary Company tour.
