After a remarkable tenure of over a decade and more than 20 productions, our esteemed Head of Design, Jacob Nash, has decided to take a step back from Bangarra.

Jake has been an integral part of our organization for more than ten years, bringing his unique vision and creativity to every production. He has designed the sets for some of our most memorable productions, including Terrain, Bennelong, and Dark Emu. His dedication to telling important First Nations stories is evident in his creation of ground-breaking set designs that have inspired both us and the wider arts industry.

Jake’s impact on the world of dance and theatre extends far beyond Bangarra. He has been recognised nationally and internationally for his work, including a Helpmann Award for Best Scenic Design for Bennelong.

While we are sad to see him go, we hope to work with him again in the future and we look forward to celebrating the incredible work that lies ahead for him.

On behalf of the entire Bangarra family, we thank Jake for his extraordinary contributions to the company. He will always remain a part of the Bangarra clan.

"I have had an amazing 12 years at Bangarra Dance Theatre, and want to thank this remarkable company for helping shape and support me to become the artist I am today, particularly Stephen Page and Frances Rings.

I have been on some amazing journeys during my time with the company and I am so proud of the stories that we have created and shared with audiences together.

I have also collaborated with some of the countries most talented artists and theatre makers along the journey, and will always hold those friendships and memories close. Thank you.

This feels like the right time to begin a new adventure and I look forward to sharing that with you
- This is just the beginning."
