- Janaya is a proud Wiradjuri woman, born on Bunjalung country. She grew up in Tamworth on Gamileraay country, and she also has Torres Strait ancestry.
- Biography:
Janaya’s first dance training was in hip hop at four years of age. During her school years, she was part of the NSW Department of Education Aboriginal Dance Company. On commencing studies at NAISDA in 2018 she further developed her skills in hip hop, as well as Indigenous contemporary dance. Janaya joined Bangarra in 2022.
