Bangarra Dance Theatre celebrates a new partnership with Novatech Creative Event Technology

We are delighted to be collaborating with our new Company Partner, Novatech, for the development of our current production, Illume.

Illume examines light from both choreographic and visual art perspectives. The combination of art forms creates a multidimensional experience that integrates dance and design elements alongside First Nations cultural storytelling.

“Our partnership with Novatech has allowed us to realise the ambition and vision Darrell and I held for this work. For the first time, we’ve been able to integrate large-scale LED and projection technologies - transforming the way our stories are brought to life and experienced by audiences.” - Frances Rings

Novatech’s support has brought new depth, scale and resonance to the production. This collaboration signals an exciting new chapter for Bangarra, and we’re proud to walk alongside a partner who shares our commitment to amplifying First Nations voices – honouring stories from the past, present and into the future.

For thousands of years, the language of light has energised and sustained Indigenous cultures, connecting people, environment, and kinship through nature’s rhythms. This luminous force bridges the physical and spiritual realms, carrying ancestral wisdom and power.

This kind of technology is a powerful tool that enables us to tell these ancient stories in bold new ways and create experiences that awaken audiences to First Nations histories, perspectives and worldviews.

“We’re thrilled to formalise our partnership with Bangarra as a Company Partner, which aligns with our ongoing commitment to support the Arts in meaningful ways, especially where innovation is concerned,” says Leko Novakovic, Managing Director of Novatech.
