Telling the stories: Bush (2003)

Bush is inspired by a collection of Aboriginal Dreamtime creation stories. Moth is one of the stories told in Bush.

Moth (an excerpt from Bush)

Moth is the third dance in a section of Bush that is titled Life Cycle. (The first two dances in the Life Cyclesection are Leaf and Caterpillar).

Bringing Moth to the stage: the creative process

The artistic elements of Moth are created by the choreographer in close collaboration with the dancers, the composer of the music, and the costumes, set and lighting designers.

Before Viewing

What do students already know about movement and dance, the moth and its life cycle?

After Viewing

What did the students experience watching Moth? What did they observe and what is their response to the work?

Next Steps

Use improvisation, exploration and experimentation of movement to create dance, communicate ideas, and reflect back on Moth.
