| Happy birthday partner! |
Boral 60th Birthday |
Boral turns
60 this year, and to help them celebrate in style, we staged
an exclusive performance at our Wharf studio on the evening
of Friday 28 July.
 |
The company
performed a specially created highlights package of
past productions, and we followed it up with a cocktail
function overlooking Sydney Harbour. The event was
a great opportunity for Boral to thank their key customers
and to showcase their support of Bangarra Dance Theatre.

Kanyini |
Kanyini - Win tix! |
A refreshing
and beautiful film, Kanyini (which means 'interconnectedness
in Pitjantjatjara') exposes the ins and outs of the world's
oldest living culture in a way that's never been seen before.
Kanyini is a story told by
an Aboriginal man, Bob Randall, who lives beside the world's
greatest monolith, Uluru. Wise, thoughtful, with a sadness
that lacks rancour, Uncle Bob, a traditional owner of the
Uluru lands and former Indigenous Person of the Year (1999),
speaks softly and powerfully about the lands of his people.
Based on Bob's own personal journey and the wisdom he learnt
from the old people living in the bush, Bob tells the tale
of why Indigenous people are now struggling in a modern
world and what needs to be done for them to move forward.
Kanyini is a tale of Indigenous wisdom clashing
against materialist notions of progress. This is not only
a story of one man and his people but of the human race.
Kanyini opens at selected
cinemas nationally from 31st August, 2006.

Message
from Telstra
Bangarra Dance Theatre draws
on the inspiration of Indigenous Australians to create artistically
innovative theatre. Bangarra has grown in a short time to
become one of the most treasured performing arts companies
in Australia. The company continues to thrive, enchanting
audiences around the world from the United States to Japan,
New Zealand to Monaco and China becoming an important cultural
export.
Telstra is proud to be involved
in assisting with the broadening of the Bangarra audience.
An ability to combine traditional
stories and experiences with a contemporary voice is the
integral ingredient in Bangarra's ability to promote
reconciliation amongst all Australians. 40,000 years of
traditions and experience are blended with the attitudes
of Indigenous people to provide a truly unique experience
of Australian culture.
Telstra and Bangarra have combined
to deliver this message to the youth of the country by distributing
hundreds of free educational CD-Roms to schools and educational
centres. They have also provided dance workshops in regional
areas that have been attended by over 1,000 children and
teenagers.
Sadly, 2006 sees the conclusion of Telstra's
association with Bangarra. Telstra is extremely proud of
its association with Bangarra and the many achievements
and milestones the partnership has delivered over the last
five years. Telstra would like to wish Bangarra continued
success and prosperity in the future.
